Sam Houston State edges Central Arkansas 17-14

Provided by Written on November 14, 2009

HUNTSVILLE, Texas(AP) — Vincent Dotson returned a blocked punt 36
yards for a touchdown and Chris Poullard compiled 93 yards of
total offense and a score as Sam Houston State beat Central
Arkansas 17-14 Saturday.

Dotson blocked a punt by Jonathan Beard from the Central
Arkansas 49-yard line and scored to give the Bearkats (5-5, 3-3
Southland) their first lead, 10-7 with 8:12 left the third
quarter.

After Poullard capped a five-play, 54-yard scoring drive with a
1-yard touchdown run early in the fourth, Central Arkansas (5-5,
2-4) rallied to cut the margin to 17-14 on a Brent Grimes 9-yard
TD run with 9:12 to go.

However, an interception by Cameron Jenkins with 30 seconds
remaining ended the Bears’ chances for a comeback.

Poullard rushed 19 times for 56 yards and caught five passes for
37 yards.
