The 2009-2010 College Basketball season has officially began.  This year the Duke Blue Devils opened their season against UNCG.  While basketball season is always a breath of fresh air in Durham, the season opener this year has a different feel.

The Devils tipped off their season without the aid of Nolan Smith (suspention) and Mason Plumlee (injury)

Not many teams would be able to kick off their season with a smile without their starting point guard and one of their top freshmen, but the Devils were never truly threatened.

Duke went on the win the game by thirty four points.  Not a close game by any stretch of the imagination.  Coach K's crew not only got the victory but they also go much needed time and experience for a few key players.

The key to this season for Duke is going to be the play of Jon Scheyer and Kyle Singler.  In this game the two combined for thirty eight points, a number no two players on UNC could challenge.

This year's team will rely heavily on the size and strength at about every position.  Tonight Duke's point guard was taller than the forwards of UNCG.

Up next for the Devils will be Coastal Carolina.  Chanticleers are currently undefeated at 1-0 with a win over Webb.  They had an impressive performance by Joseph Harris who scored 21 in that game.  If the Chanticleers are to keep this one close, they are going to need a lot more from Harris as well as Chad Gray their second leading scorer.
