Landon Milbourne and Sean Mosley scored 16 and 15 points, respectively, to lead the Maryland Terps to a 89-51 opening season victory over visiting Charleston Southern on Friday night.
Teammates Jordan Williams finished with 12, James Padgett had 10 and Eric Hayes chipped in with 10. Greivis Vasquez only scored 9, but had a team high 13 assist.
Overall the Terps played well on both end of the court. The defensive pressure kept Charleston off balanced and as we all know, good defense leads to offense. This was a good team efforts, as Williams, Padgett and Milbourne combined for 24 rebounds. However, the key to Maryland's vicitory was a game high 27 assist.
The game was close in the first half, as the Terps had an early 37-25 lead. The second half saw Maryland outscore their opponents 52-26, the team went 23 for 43 in the scond half.
For Charleston Jamarco Warren had team high 9 points, followed by Kelvin Martin with 8 and Jeremy Sexon with 7.
The Terps will take on Fairfield on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m.
