The Texas Longhorns Would Win the Title in a FBS Playoff

If if’s and but’s were candy and nuts, it’d be Christmas all year.

If I ran for governor of Iowa , I would lose.

If there was a 16-team college football playoff, it would be a dream.

So none better than Iowa’s favorite son that nobody wanted to break down the dream playoff.

ACC Champion: Georgia Tech (12-1)

Big East Champion: Cincinnati (12-0)

Conference USA Champion: Houston (12-1)

Mid-American Conference Champion: Temple (11-2)

Pacific-10 Champion: Oregon (10-2)

Sun Belt Champion: Troy (10-2)

Big 12 Champion: Texas (13-0)

Big Ten Champion: Ohio State (10-2)

Independents Ranked in Top 16: None

Mountain West Champion: TCU (12-0)

SEC Champion: Alabama (13-0)

WAC Champion: Boise State (12-0)

 

Wildcards

Florida (12-1)—SEC

After losing to Alabama in the SEC Championship Game, Florida would be a wildcard lock with a home game due to a tough schedule.

Iowa (10-2)—Big Ten

—Iowa—despite its late season slide—gets in because of its victories over Arizona and Penn State.

USC (10-2)—Pac-10

—Even a loss at Washington cannot keep the Trojans out of the playoffs.

Utah (10-2)—Mountain West

—A loss at Oregon by seven (31-24), a projected loss to TCU and a victory over BYU gets the Utes in by a hair.

Oklahoma State (10-2)—Big 12

—Losses to playoff-bound Houston and Texas and a win over Oklahoma in the Bedlam series makes the Cowboys the last team in.

West Finals at San Francisco, CA

USC (11-2) vs. Oregon (11-2)

—In the rematch, USC takes control early and wins on the neutral field… USC 31, Oregon 27

 

Midwest Bracket

Iowa (10-2) at TCU (12-0)

—Iowa is unable to move the ball on the best statistical defense in the country. TCU does enough and gets by…TCU 17, Iowa 7

Utah (10-2) at Texas (13-0)

—Utah shows some fortitude, but Heisman winner Colt McCoy commands the ‘Horns to the win at home…Texas 34, Utah 17

 

Midwest Finals at Arlington, TX

TCU (13-0) vs. Texas (14-0)

—For the Texas state championship, TCU does all it can. But its offense is not powerful enough. McCoy and Co. moves on…Texas 28, TCU 10.
