Giants Lose Wilkerson For Rest Of Season

Bryan Brackney by Analyst Written on November 11, 2009
The New York Giants have announced that they have placed linebacker Gerris Wilkerson on injured reserve. Wilkerson was dealing with a wrist injury that had him on the sidelines. Wilkerson was injured in Sunday's loss.

Wilkerson was vital to the Giants special teams, and he had already recorded 12 special teams tackles in 2009. To fill Wilkerson's roster spot, the Giants signed cornerback D.J. Williams off of the Bronco's practice squad.

Wilkerson was drafted in the third round of the 2006 NFL draft. Wilkerson has recorded 51 tackles in his NFL career, and all of them have been with the New York Giants. That might not be the case next season, when Wilkerson's contract runs out.
