"I'm trying to do what I was doing at the beginning of the season, that's getting the athletes the ball (and) let them be athletes," Forcier said Monday. "It's hard when things aren't going right.

"You want to be the guy to answer that question. It's me being as competitive as I am I want to be that guy who helps his team. So far it hasn't been working too well, but I'm sure we'll be back next week (against Wisconsin)."

His body has also taken a beating in Big Ten play. "I expected it," Forcier said. "I'm a freshman. I'm not fully developed. I'm young, so I expected it and it's the Big Ten. You're playing against a lot of big people. It's no joke, this conference—they know how to play."
