Here is the season review for the Chicago Blackhawks for the 2007-2008 NHL season.
2007-2008 Record: 40-34-8, 88 points, third in Central, tenth in West.
Head Coach: Denis Savard
General Manager: Dale Tallon
Top Three Players: Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Patrick Sharp.
Team MVP: Patrick Kane, F. 82-21-51-72-52, minus-5. He had an unbelievable rookie campaign, leading the team in assists. Him and Jonathan Toews are going to lead this team for years to come. He is most likely going to win the Calder Trophy this year as the NHL rookie of the year, and it is going to be well deserved.
Rookie of the Year: (See Team MVP).
Bust: Rene Bourque, F. With 24 points in 62 games, he did not really have a bad year. He just seemed to not do as well as I thought he would. He has much more potential, and the potential to be a 50-point scorer in the NHL, perhaps even a 60 or 70 pointer. He needs to keep working hard, in order to achieve a spot on the second line behind Toews and Kane.
Surprise: Patrick Sharp, F. Who can honestly say they predicted him leading the Hawks in goals, and having this much of a breakout year? That’s all that needs to be said.
Playoffs: Did not qualify.
Season Analysis: The Blackhawks are clearly on a rebuilding process, but they are on the right track. Winning the draft lottery last season was crucial, as the difference between Patrick Kane and either Kyle Turris or James van Riemsdyk was humongous. Kane and Toews have led this team, and soon they will make the playoffs again.
They do, however, need to find a good goalie that can lead their team, as Khabibulin and Patrick Lalime have been inconsistent the last few years of their careers. Dale Tallon needs to either draft a good young guy, or find a temporary fix in free agency, and he cannot be afraid to spend money, as the Blackhawks are known to do. To succeed in the NHL, you need to spend money.

I slightly disagree with the MVP because I believe Jonathan Toews was more important to the team than Kane. When Toews missed a month of the season the team feel off the map and they had to claw back into the playoff picture. But I can see the case for Kane...Just my opinion.
