The young Brit has only made three appearances at the U. S. Open but played well in 2005 at Pinehurst, proving he can play well when scoring is low and pars are at a premium. Can he do it again this week?
Appearances: 3
Best Finish: T-5 (2003)
Best Round: 69 (2003)

30. Andres Romero: Romero is a birdie buster. At the British Open last year he had the lead before bogeying the last few holes. Can he tear up Torrey Pines as well?
Appearances: N/A
Best Finish: N/A
Best Round: N/A

31. Rory Sabbatini: Tiger's most heated rival has never been in contention at the U. S. Open. He hasn't played well this year and that's evident in the FedEx Cup Standings where he is 32nd.
Appearances: 6
Best Finish: T-51 (2007)
Best Round: 69 (2002, 2003)

32. Stuart Appleby: Now we talk about red hot Stuart Appleby. He finished T14th at Augusta and T15th at the Players Championship. He can win here but he's very inconsistent. Before last year he had missed the cut four straight years.
Appearances: 11
Best Finish: T-10 (1998)
Best Round: 69 (2002, 2003)

33. Brandt Snedeker: Snedeker had his chance to win his first major championship at Augusta in April. Now he's working on winning his first here at Torrey Pines.
Appearances: 2
Best Finish: T-23 (2007)
Best Round: 71 (2007)

34. Carl Petterson: A top five fish at the Wachovia and a top 10 at the Memorial has given Petterson 8 Top 25 finishes this season.
Appearances: 3
Best Finish: T-17 (2007)
Best Round: 72 (2007)

35. Woody Austin: Austin hasn't played well here in the past but he can get hot at any time. If he can ever find a way not to have a bad round in the middle of a 66 or 67 then he can be competitive on the weekend.
Appearances: 6
Best Finish: T-23 (1996)
Best Round:
66 (2003)

36. Michael Campbell: The 2005 winner at Pinehurst has not been competitive in a major since then but hopes to sneak back in the picture this weekend at Torrey Pines.
Appearances: 9
Best Finish: Won (2005)
Best Round: 68 (2005)

37. Mike Weir: Weir finished second at the Memorial, but will have to bring back some of the putting he had during his Masters victory to win this week. His best finish was a T3 in 2003.
Appearances: 9
Best Finish: T-3 (2003)
Best Round: 67 (2001, 2003)

38. Jerry Kelly: Kelly finished second at the Memorial and there's no doubt he has the skills set to win a U. S. Open. The only problem I have with Kelly is that he is extremely inconsistent.
Appearances: 7
Best Finish: T7 (2007)
Best Round: 69 (2004)

39.
