Educating MMA Fans: Fedor's Striking Is Not Sloppy

Fedor's striking style is not sloppy. It's just not boxing.

It's a little annoying that people call Fedor a "sloppy" fighter because of his style of punching. Even professional announcers are clueless when it comes down to calling Fedor's fights.

Sambo is Fedor's respective sport, just like Brazilian Jiu-jJitsu is the specialty or base of many other fighters. Not recognizing a sambo cast during a fight is like not knowing what makes a Kimura a Kimura.  MMA fans should pride themselves on knowing as much as possible about all the arts on display.

Casting is like throwing a fishing line and snapping your arm forward with your shoulder. It is part of the reason we see Fedor's arms so low during fights. The nature of the throw helps to protect your head by keeping it back and low, while simultaneously setting up a grappling position to begin tossing opponents.

The atomic blast that ended the match was a perfect example of what the Last Emperor trains to do.
