Djokovic Too Strong For Murray, Madrid 2006

Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray were two talented youngsters who had some fierce battles but their 1st encounter in professional tennis was in the Madrid Masters series event in 2006.

Murray cruised through the 1st set winning it 6-1 and the Scot seemed on course for an easy victory.

Djokovic dug deep in the 2nd set and showed some great fighting qualities and he manage to win it 7-5 to level the match and take it into a 3rd and final set.

When Djokovic got a break in the 3rd set he managed to win 6-3 to seal a superb comeback victory 1-6 7-5 6-3.

The duo have since met on 6 further occasions and Djokovic leads the series 4-3.

Djokovic won his 1st Grand Slam title in Australia last year Murray on the other hand is still yet to win his 1st Grand Slam title.

If you are a Betting person then you would do well to back Djokovic to defend his Masters Cup title in London in 2 weeks time.
