Apologies for lateness.

Arsenal played stunning, easy on the eye, quick football, which stunned a doughty AZ Alkmaar.

Arsenal were far too strong for their Dutch opposition, and it showed as Arsenal put four impressive goals past them.

Player Ratings

Manuel Almunia: 6.5 —Rarely troubled but when called upon, dealt with the AZ Alkmaar attack. Will be annoyed he didn't manage a clean sheet.

Emmanuel Eboue: 7.5 —Another chance at right back and the Ivorian didn't disappoint. Kept the right flank tidy and was very active in attack, providing strong crosses.

William Gallas: 7 —Solid and tidy in the air.

Thomas Vermaelen:7 —Little to do, but when needed, the Belgian defender did the job.

Kieran Gibbs: 7 —A good performance from the youngster. Handy in attack and was relatively strong with the Alkmaar attack.

Alexandre Song: 7 —As usual this season, held the midfield well. Chopped down the Alkmaar midfield attack and was evident in attack.

Cesc Fabregas: 9 —A superb performance. Two great goals and always, involved in the Arsenal play.

Abou Diaby: 8 —A strong effort from the Frenchman. Was dangerous in attack and his height and power were more than useful. A lovely finish ensured he was on the score sheet.

Samir Nasri: 8 —Showed how sorely the Frenchman has been missed. Showed great pace throughout the game and his quick feet and good movement was a constant nuisance for the Dutch. A superb goal too.

Andrei Arshavin: 8.5 —An excellent performance from the Russian magician. Involved heavily in three of the goals and also a constant threat with the ball.

Robin van Persie: 7 —A surprise to see the in-form Dutch not on the score sheet, but he did link and create play well.

Substitutes

Eduardo Da Silva: 6 —Dangerous runs and good pace reminded of what impact he can create.

Aaron Ramsey: 6 —More playing time for the Welsh. It was evident the experience is helping him, as he passed and ran well.

Tomas Rosicky: 6 —Pacey, tricky and more playing time for the Czech.
