David Beckham joined LA Galaxy in July 2007, signing a five year contract. During his first full season with the club Beckham earned close to £10m. Unbelievably from sponsorship deals alone and excluding his seperate salary from the Galaxy.

The latest details show that his move from European giants Real Madrid to the US have not affected his marketability. Figures have shown that the income from one of his companies shot up 91% in 2008, compared to the previous year. The gross profit of the company rose by 15% to £12.1m.

Another of his companies, Brand Beckham, receives his $5.5m basic salary from the Galaxy, the share of the merchandising he generates for the MLS team and joint endorsements with his wife Victoria, including their range of fragrance.

Despite failing to renew deals with Gilette and Pepsi, his advisers are confident of expanding his off-the-field portfolio. He will be developing his own range for Adidas, and six more sponsors will be snapped up too.

Another loan spell in Europe with Milan will further help is global appeal. It will also aid him in his hopes of making the England 2010 World Cup Squad, the competition of which could potentially accommodate his fourth consecutive appearance.
