One of the major problems with the Toronto Maple Leafs is that of goal tending. Net-minding recently has seemed to be one of the biggest problems in Leaf Nation.

In the off season, Brian Burke signed the much anticipated Swedish net-minder Jonas "The Monster" Gustavsson.

Some could consider this to be the beggining of the Leafs rebuild, which is a resonable consideration!

Build from the back!

Other goaltenders in Toronto consist of Vesa Toskala and Joey MacDonald. But right now, the battle to be number one seems to be between Toskala and Gustavsson.

Toskala, this season with only five games under his belt, holds 23 goals against with a .836 SV% with 5.13 as his goals against average. This just can't be acceptable to any team.

Gustavsson's numbers look a lot healthier and proves that he should obtain that number one position. In six games, he holds 17 goals against, a .901 SV%, and a 2.98 goals against average.

A coaching error of Ron Wilson, is he is constantly switching up to goaltenders every two or so games.

Give the rest of the season to Gustavsson and see what comes of his performance, which can almost be guaranteed to be better than Toskala!

Just a thought..
