Forget About The National Championship- Beating Oregon Would Be Better

I may be a dinosaur but I liked the Rose Bowl Pac 10/Big Ten Game.  There was something wonderful about the way it was with the Big Ten and Pac 10 playing in the Rose Bowl on New Years Day.  The parade and the rest made the whole event a dream for people from the Midwest and in the end it made any Iowa Hawkeye year.

In 1998 the minor conferences like the SEC and the Big12 (A fusion of two the worst conferences ever the Big 8 and SWC) demanded that #1 play #2 for the championship and so we got the abortion of a system we now have called the BCS.  In the end all that has happened is a diminuation of the existing bowls and allot of hype.

As everyone knows college football's playoff is the regular season.  It is because Purdue can beat Ohio State for example that makes College Football superior to the professional game.  In the end the best thing that could happen would be for Iowa to play Oregon in the Rose Bowl.

If a #4 Iowa team played a #5 Oregon team in the Rose Bowl it would create a compelling game that would reinvigorate the Rose Bowl and challenge the notion that the BCS really matters.  The fact is that most college football fans do not agree with President Obama they like their own traditions and do not care about others.  In fact there is no such thing as a College Football Fan.  You have to belong to one school preferably your Alma Mater.  I do not care who wins the SEC or the Big East all I care about is the Big Ten and the Rose Bowl.

So I do not care about the BCS championship game.  I would like to see Iowa Play Oregon in the Rose Bowl, in Pasadena, on New Years Day.  Period
