On Thursday, November 5, the St. Louis Blues fell in overtime to the Calgary Flames 2-1.  The loss spoiled the debut of Blues Rookie Lars Eller, who became the 12th Blues rookie in history to score in his first game.

Defensively, the Blues held strong, giving up only 1 goal before overtime.  Goalie Chris Mason had a strong game after giving up an early goal.  On the offensive side, the Blues failed to capitalize on the defensive performance, ultimately costing them the loss.

St. Louis, who started the season 2-0-0, fell to 5-6-2 and continue to struggle at home.  The Blues have teetered around the .500 mark all season, and continue the trend.  Veteran leaders Keith Tkachuk and Paul Kariya need to spark the younger talent like Erik Johnson and T.J. Oshie, who played for the first time in 4 games.  Offensively, the Blues are not playing nearly aggressive enough.

The Blues' next game is Saturday night in Philadelphia, against the Flyers.  The city of Philadelphia will be out for blood after the Phillies' loss to the New York Yankees in the World Series.  Hopefully the Blues can turn around their current 3-game slide.
