Frenchman Gilles Simon became the 1st man to reach the Quarter Finals of the ATP event in Valencia Spain, after he over came Tomas Berdych in a tense 3 set match.

Simon who took the tennis world by storm last year when he beat Roger Federer in the Masters series event in Toronto and at the Masters Cup in Shanghai, won the 1st set against Berdych 6-4 however Berdych fought back to win the 2nd set by the same score.

Simon went on to win the final set 6-3 to book his place in the last 8 in Valencia.

The victory means that Simon still has the opportunity for qualifying for the Masters Cup in 2 weeks time which this year will be held at the O2 Arena in London.

Simon also reached the final of the Masters series Event in Madrid last year when he beat Rafael Nadal in the Semis, Simon however fell short to Andy Murray in the final.

If you are a Betting person then you would do well to back Simom to win the title this week.
