Tyler Sheehan found Freddie Barnes with 39 seconds left for the game-winning touchdown that put the Bowling Green Falcons up 30 to 29 last night in Buffalo.
Sheehan was 22-for-40 for 333 yards with one touchdown and an interception; he also added a touchdown on the ground.
His struggles through the air were dwarfed when compared to the Bowling Green rushing attack, which only managed a measly 48 yards.
Buffalo out-ran the Falcons, but only had half the yards; the Bulls controlled the clock and had more first downs.
What they failed to do, however, was keep the ball long enough to keep the Falcons from getting one last drive. The Buffaloes were matched punch for punch throughout the game and were outscored 17-8 in the second half.
Willie Geter added two touchdowns for the Falcons, both coming on goal line runs, and Matthew Norsic added a 34-yard field goal in the third. The rest of the scoring came as a result of either Sheehan’s legs or arm. Freddie Barnes, besides catching Sheehan’s lone touchdown, added seven receptions for 122 yards in the game.
Bowling Green’s schedule is very favorable for the Falcons to possibly win out, or at the very least get that magical sixth win to make them bowl eligible. Their remaining opponents have a combined 5-20 record and two of the three games are played at home for the Falcons.
The Falcons' next game is on November 12 at 6:00pm at Miami (1-8). Bowling Green's last two games, against Akron and Toledo, can both be seen on ESPNU.
