The New York Yankees have been a team on fire during 2009. The Yankees' success can be seen through their 2009 World Series appearance.

But there is always that saying, "Behind every successful man, there is a beautiful woman," the Yankees hold true to this saying.

The women behind the New York Yankees give a whole new meaning to 'on fire.' These women are hot! I'll let you see for yourself in this presentation.

10. Hideki Matsui's Mystery Wife

Hideki Matsui secretly got married to a Japanese office worker in the 2008-2009 offseason. It came as a surprise to many, including teammates like Derek Jeter.

At the beginning of the 2009 season, several Japanese reports found this photo and stated that this was Matsui's mystery wife. Nobody knows for sure whether Matsui's wife even exists. The only official photo that the press has is the hand-drawn photo that he made of her.

The person in the drawing looks pretty, but she can't go higher up on the list, until there is an actual photo of her released.

9. Laura Pettitte

Laura Pettitte is a good looking woman. But Andy Pettitte is one of those men that looks deep inside for the true beauty of a woman.

He met his lovely wife in high school and have been lovebirds ever since. They now have four children after being married.

Andy Pettitte is a great man. Combine his looks and great personality with what his wife has, that makes four bundles of joy.

8. Leigh Teixeira

What a great looking couple!

Leigh Teixeira is deserving of this spot on the list because she is a very great looking woman and she is the reason that Mark Teixeira is a New York Yankee.

She said that when she heard that the New York Yankees were interested, she returned that same amount of interest to the New York Yankees. She said that her husband and she loved New York and believed that it would be a great place to raise their two children.

Leigh Teixeira loves New York, and I'm pretty sure that New York loves her back!

7. Karen Burnett

Karen Burnett was known to have had a reputation of being smoking hot before her husband arrived in New York during the Winter of 2008. But the paparazzi was not able to get a hold of photos that lived up to her reputation.

This is not to say that she is not hot, she is. But several reports stated that she hates flying from place to place. She prefers any method of travel except by plane.

She use to live in Baltimore during the baseball season, and took care of the Burnett children, but she has been spotted with most of the other Yankee wives at games.

6. Amber Sabathia

Karen Burnett and Amber Sabathia are two first year additions to the Yankees wives club.

Amber Sabathia looks like a very upbeat mother and wife. When they show her at Yankee games she seems to be cheering on her husband and not caring what the people around her think.

She gets along nicely with the other Yankee wives also. Amber is just like Andy Pettitte's wife, because they both fell for talented men in high school. She met CC Sabathia, when they were both in high school in Vallejo, California.

They have three children including CC Sabathia III. Look Out!

One reason that Yankee fans might not like her is because she was pushing Sabathia to sign with the Giants in California. But all is now forgiven because she seems to be enjoying herself in New York.

5. Kate Hudson (aka A-Rod's girlfriend)

Alex Rodriguez has a good taste for women. His latest girlfriend is Kate Hudson. The daughter of Goldie Hawn and acknowledges Kurt Russell as her father figure.

She has one child from a previous marriage. So does Alex Rodriguez. These two are on cloud nine right now. Recently Rodriguez bought her a necklace with the number 13.

If Hudson were to marry A-Rod soon, she would quickly be accepted by the Yankee wives. She has been photographed recently hanging out with the other wives in the stands and having a good time.

Until A-Rod puts a ring around her finger, she is staying put at the No. 5 spot.

4. Minka Kelly (aka Derek Jeter's reported fiancee)

The New York Yankees Captain, Derek Jeter, always looks into the stands before a home game and looks for his parents. Soon he may be looking into the stands and looking for his parents and his reported fiancee, Minka Kelly.

Kelly is a star on the NBC show "Friday Night Lights." Jeter usually keeps his private life on the down low, but the announcement of his engagement could not be played off.

"Friday Night Lights" shows the many reasons why Derek Jeter fell for Minka Kelly. In the show she plays a teenage cheerleader, and a good one. Recently she has not been on television for her show, but at Yankee games supporting her husband-to-be.

Minka Kelly looks like she will be welcome in the Jeter family, the Yankee family, and the Yankee Wives club.

Well Jorge Posada's wife, Laura, is the veteran of the Yankees Wives Club. Recently she wrote a book with her husband and will soon make her reality television debut on E! She along with other baseball wives like Cole Hamel's wife, Heidi Hamels, starred in a E! True Hollywood Story on Baseball Wives.

Laura Posada has been honored for her work with the Latino community and for her promotion of living a healthy life. This Yankee Wife deserves her spot near the top of the Yankee wives countdown.

Well, Michelle Damon has every right be be No. 1 on the list, but her bad reputation before marrying Johnny Damon, brings her down a spot. In the past at a Red Sox game, Michelle Damon, showed off a ring that her husband gave her. Then she got into a heated argument with Red Sox wife, Shonda Schilling.

There were also rumors flying around the media that Michelle Damon was a former stripper. One website said, "I’m saying if it looks like a stripper, acts like a stripper and talks like a stripper—it must be a stripper…"

Since marrying Johnny Damon and moving to New York, she has been on her best behavior and changed her lifestyle. She has dedicated herself to taking care of her children at home, while Johnny plays baseball.

1. Danielle Gamba (aka Mrs. Swisher)

This photo knocks this a grand slam! Better yet, its outside the park!

During this 2009 World Series, Nick Swisher has been struggling with men in scoring position. He is definitely not striking out much with Danielle Gamba in scoring position!

She is a Playboy playmate and was a cheerleader for the Oakland Raiders! Behind the looks there is also a brain, Gamba has a brain. But she still likes to party. She loves to party, so much she was arrested for it!

Honorable Mention: Cynthia Rodriguez

Earlier in the slideshow, I noted that Alex Rodriguez has a good taste for women. When he signed with the New York Yankees, he was married to Cynthia. After she got divorced with Alex Rodriguez, she also gave up her privilege of being in this countdown. Who knows she could have been near the top of the list?

Final Note: Good Luck to Cano and Cabrera

I wish the best of luck to the Yankee youngsters that are hoping to have a wife good enough to make this elite list of Yankee Wives and girlfriends. Melky Cabrera and Robinson Cano are two guys that will be dating one girl and the next moment another.

Hopefully they will soon decide to settle down and start planning a family. Who knows maybe it might take them as long as Derek Jeter to find Mrs. Right.

Or for a guy with the looks of Robinson Cano, it might be a different reason!
