With one TD this season, and 348 yard in receptions, it begs the question, Where is Jason Witten 5× Pro Bowl selection in the Cowboy offense? This season has been one that has had questions about the Cowboys offense. And that was before Miles Austin became a star almost over night in the past 3 games. My question for the Cowboys is why Witten is not more involved?

One of the main forces of the offense last season seems to be stuck on the line in blocking schemes more so on a passing route. When questioned about the loss in Denver of why Jason Witten was not in a passing route, that last two plays of the game that could have ultimately gave them the win, Wade Phillips, Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator said he needed to block because of what the defense had on the line. But come on…a chip block, and then throw the ball to Witten for the win. Or was that too generic for Wade to understand? That is one game the Cowboys would love to have back. Besides that, isn’t the offense supposed to dictate the defense does, more then the defense dictate the offense? Bad Bad answer Mr. Phillips.

Offensive Coordinator Jason Garrett needs to get Witten involved more, because you really do not only want to rely on Miles Austin, Patrick Crayton, Sam Hurd and Roy Williams in the passing game. This is a game where Witten’s leadership can come into play and help these young players even more.

This week against the Eagles, the Cowboys will need to use all weapons in their arsenal. If they don’t, the Eagles defense that is very good, will be all over them for a full 60 minutes, and they could come out with a loss. Then they will be talking about “Where was Witten” after the game. When you have someone like Witten you need to use him. Look at Gonzalez in Atlanta now. He gets the ball. Why? Because he is a threat. Witten was a threat long before Austin was in the offense, and with Roy Williams, and Romo not on the same page as Wade says, they better think of something that will get them over the hump against the Eagles. The Eagles defense is fast and they hit HARD!

Unlike other teams, the Eagles on Sunday will be VERY aware of Witten, but the Cowboys had better pull him out…dust him off, and get him ready. I predict; No Witten, No Win. This would be the week to see Jason Witten come up with 110 yards and two TDs. They are going to need production because the run could be shut down.

If that happens then the Cowboy will be playing catch up to the Eagles, and also all ready with a loss against the Giants in the their division, they could be on the outside looking in and with only 2 games they will help them make the playoffs December 6th against the Giants, and January 3rd against the Eagles. This game for the Cowboys is a must win. And that is IF they can beat Washington. The Redskins are not going to just lay down. Haynesworth may be in Romo’s face all day for 2 games.
