Brandon Rush: Expectations Too High?

Jon Bryan by Contributor Written on November 03, 2009

The title honestly says it all. After a full season and the start of another one, will Brandon Rush ever turn into that pure shooter, and possibly future star that everyone thought he would be?

My guess is that Rush becomes nothing more than a solid role player in the NBA. Things that he should have learned in his first NBA season have been popping up very regularly in the first few games of this season.

For example, traveling. Rush should have learned to calm himself down and put the ball on the floor before taking two steps last year, but he's been doing it most of this year so far, and has been turning the ball over at least twice a game because of the same thing. Another problem I've seen is his decision making. He loves to put shots up, but when he's open he hesitates and when he isn't open he fires away, that really needs to improve.

While I think Rush still has a shot to be a very good NBA player, I just don't think he'll turn into the Robin, that Batman (Danny Granger) needs.
