College football often boils down to coaching and quarterbacking.

But if 2009 has taught us anything, it's that the former is a whole lot more important than the latter.

Winning teams across the country are overcoming their quarterback play. Defenses are doggedly determined to create more turnovers than their signal caller. Offensive coordinators risk coronaries anytime they venture into the pass portion of their play chart.

There are no fewer than a dozen teams with winning records because of, and in spite of, quarterbacks who rate outside the top 50 nationally in passing efficiency.

The following list is not for the faint-of-pick-six heart.
