Former World No. 2 Tommy Haas has been ruled out of the ATP indoor event in Basle, Switzerland as he has been diagnosed with swine flu.

Haas very nearly stunned the tennis world earlier this year when he was up two sets to love on Roger Federer at the French Open in the fourth round.

Federer went on to win the French Open for the first time in his career.

Haas backed up his fine performance at the French Open by reaching the semifinals of Wimbledon for the first time in his career. Haas once again fell short against Federer, this time in four sets.

This latest development will be a huge disappointment to Haas, who would have had high hopes of claiming the title in Basle. Federer will be keen to win the title once again in front of his home fans on his return to the tour. The Swiss Maestro has not played a match on the ATP tour since his loss to Juan Martin Del Potro in the final of the US Open.

It is hard to see Haas defying the Odds and winning another Grand Slam title.
