Lleyton Hewitt went into the 2003 Wimbledon Championships and as many peoples favourite to retain his title.
As well as being the defending champion Hewitt also went into Wimbledon as the world Number 1 and top seed.
Hewitt was up against the 6ft10 Croat Ivo Karlovic in the 1st round.
Hewitt raced through the 1st set 6-1 and appeared to be on course for a comfortable victory.
However to his credit Karlovic dug deep and levelled the match at one set all.
Hewitt is one of the best returners of serve in mens tennis but he was powerless to stop the barrage of aces that were flowing from Karlovic's racket.
Roger Federer went on to win the title at Wimbledon that year it was the Swiss maestros 1st Grand Slam title.
In the final Federer faced another Australian, Mark Philippoussis Federer won in straight sets 7-6 6-2 7-6. Pat Rafter was also twice a runner up at the All England Club.
It is hard to see Hewitt upsetting the Betting Odds and winning the title.
