Yesterday morning, it was speculated that Houston tight end Owen Daniels would miss the rest of the 2009 season with a knee injury. And yesterday afternoon, it was confirmed.

Daniels tore his ACL on Sunday at Buffalo early in the first quarter. It could be a devastating loss for the upstart Texans, and will be one for Daniels' fantasy owners.

Despite missing most of the game on Sunday, Daniels remains the top-scoring tight end in standard fantasy football leagues. Obviously, that will not last much longer now that he is out for the remainder of this season.

Lots of reaction on the Daniels' injury across the fantasy football blogosphere and here are a few highlights:

Replacing Daniels is not going to be simple for fantasy owners. One potentially temporary option available on the waiver wire is Washington tight end Fred Davis, who will fill in for the injured Chris Cooley at least the next four weeks. Cooley may return from a broken ankle after that time, but Davis could temporarily stop the bleeding if nothing else.
