After being sidelined by injury at the back end of 2006 World Number 2 Rafael Nadal made his comeback at the ATP event in Dubai The Spaniard cruised through to the final, to set up a dream final against Roger Federer much to the delight of tennis fans around the world.

Federer cruised through the 1st set winning it 6-2 and seemed on course to win the title in Dubai.

Nadal to his credit dug deep and won the 2nd set 6-4 to set up a deciding set. Nadal carried his momentum into the 3rd set and he won it 6-4 to claim a sensational 2-6 6-4 6-4 victory.

The duo went on to meet in the French Open and Wimbledon final that year, Nadal beat Federer in the French Open in 4 sets, while Federer reversed the result at SW19.
