I don't understand anything. Why is college baseball, arguably the purest sport on the planet, not covered? Why is women's basketball, arguably the least watched sport on the planet, covered on ESPN just like the NFL when March rolls around? That doesn't make sense! But it's America, land of confusion, whether it be have-it-all celebs with mental issues, pregnant teens, or the economy, America is all mixed up.

College baseball has to be the purest sport on earth. It HAS to be. You see more hustle in college baseball than any other sport. Come on, how can you not love a sport in which one of its top teams is named the Dirtbags. Thanks Long Beach State!

The thing is, when do you ever see college baseball on national TV? When the tournament is on. The only way you can actually follow college baseball is if you either

(a.) Have a subscription to Baseball America, or CSTV, or both. Both cost an ungodly price.

or

(b.) Live right near of a college, or you are a student.

College baseball is great. College is one of the best ways to get into the pros. Scouts like raw talent from high schools and La Dominicana, but they usually prefer a polished twenty-something that only needs a year or two in the minors. Colleges also have some of the best pure talent in the nation (a la Mr. Stephen Strasburg). In colleges, it is a bit easier to see the next big thing before the majors (Tim Lincecum, we are looking at you).

The reason, I believe America doesn't want to watch college baseball is that nobody wants to see a baseball hero anymore. Steroids ruins a sport, but I can assure you that college baseball is pure.

College baseball is the most underrated sport ever. Its counterparts, football, men's and women's basketball, are way over-hyped. You learn about Tim Tebow, Kalin Lucas, and Shavonte Zellous while they are freshmen. You don't hear about Jared Mitchell, or Dustin Ackley unless you are a hardcore baseball fan like me.

College baseball has powerhouses too. Texas, Arizona State, Long Beach State, and Vanderbilt are all top programs. Texas dominates a ton. They have the best manager in the majors, Japan, or the minors, Augie Garrido. Long Beach State is ALWAYS full of scrappy, hard-nosed players(That's why they are called the Dirtbags, and why they are my favorite team). Arizona State had Barry Bonds as an alumnus. Vanderbilt produced David Price.

As you can see, college baseball is the most underrated sport in America, land of confusion. Let's hope America will stop being confused, and will start to like college baseball.
