Nebraska's Halloween Game Follows Theme

Nebraska's game today in Waco really followed the theme of being a game on Halloween, with the possible scare of almost losing in the end.

Not to say I thought we were going to lose

But it seemed at the beginning of the game we were the Nebraska team that played at the beginning of the season (sort of). It was good to see Cody Green at quarterback today, to be right honest I thought we were never going to give him the chance. The offense was clicking in the beginning of the game, a good sign, however in the second half it appeared as if Shawn Watson went back to his timid play calling the whole offensive scheme of calling short yardage plays and hoping a player will break a tackle or get the block to go farther down the field. It leads me to wonder, "Is Shawn Watson really the offensive coach he was a year ago?" Now this game had the potential to being a blowout but a good looking drive and a pick six made this game a heck of a lot closer than it should of been.

Now needless to say a win is a win, and I'm proud of that, but after all it is Baylor without their actual starting quarterback Robert Griffin. Our defense didn't struggle by no means sure they gave up a few big plays in the passing game, but with any college football team that's just a given. But the play of Jared Crick just blew me away, sure he was playing helmet on helmet defense seeing how Baylor was double and occasionally triple teaming our man Suh but Crick played exactly how the other defensive players should play when you have a man advantage. I remember one of the commentator's on VS. say that it's good to see that when Suh departs that Crick will be a amazing replacement, now not saying he will have the exact same presence as Suh but I can easily see him helping out making everyone else around him play better.

All in all this was a good game (even though I had to listen to most of it seeing I had to work all day). I hope to see the Huskers come into next week’s game against Okalahoma with some fire and come out with a possible upset.
