Here we are once again. The World's Largest Cocktail Party, and this time it is for more than just bragging rights for another year! This year's game is something that you can best believe both Georgia and Florida will be fighting to the end for.
For Florida, it's another game to add to the struggle of trying to achieve a perfect season. With 17 games under the belt, they are well on their way of making it. They are hoping to take Georgia with ease and move on to Vanderbilt next week. Also, adding fuel to the fire is this oh-so-controversial Herschel Walker record that Tebow tied last week. The Gators want to conquer the record by beating the team that Walker set the record with. Tebow went to on to quote "To be able to break the record against Georgia would be extra special!" Now, personally I think that may have been a little, what's the word I'm looking for here?..exorbitant. Is it not enough to tie and/or beat such an outstanding record, but to throw it in the faces of Georgia?? I mean really, they're having a hard enough time staying afloat, and keeping hopes of even making it to a bowl game without Florida taking away such a pristine honor?? Personally, as a Gators fan, I would LOVE to see Florida beat the daylights out of Georgia (still holding a grudge from 2007..lol) would love to see them grind it out to a perfect season, and even see Tebow beat Walker's record, but what I'm afraid will happen is that Urban Meyer is going to pull out dusty running plays to try and get Tebow in that endzone which in turn may cost Florida something more valuable..A PERFECT SEASON!!
(FOR THE RECORD...I THINK THAT WALKER'S BOWL GAME TD'S SHOULD COUNT!)
For Georgia, well they just want to stop Florida! They want to knock "Superman" off his pedestal, and this is their last shot at it! Georgia even has pictures of Coach Urban Meyer running up and down the field calling those last unnecessary timeouts as "disrespectful" and "a slap in the face" (says AJ Green). They are using that as "motivation". Now wait a minute Georgia...rubbing salt in wounds is something you are all to familiar with, after that flooding of the field fiasco in 2007, what makes you think that Florida would not retaliate?? But, none the less...they want Florida down, they want Tebow out. Starting defensive tackle for Georgia says, if given the chance he will go head-to-head and take Tebow out. Georgia wants to reclaim what they say is theirs. They want to go back to the 80's when they dominated "The World's Largest Cocktail Party". Not only that, they want to stop Tebow from taking away Herschel Walker's record, against them. I'm sure they see this as another form of "disrespect" and another "slap in the face". I wish them the best of luck.
I'm a Florida fan first, an SEC fan second, and I feel like both teams need to give up the "grudges" (even though I'm still holding one..sounds kind of like a double standard..but I'm not perfect) and play their heart out, forget the records, previous games, and just play some good old fashioned SEC football. Since the shiesty ref's won't be there to make bogus calls this will most definitely be a good game.
