After Cedric Benson's second arrest in the span of five weeks, Bears GM Jerry Angelo is not too pleased with his "star" running back.
Benson was arrested in Austin, Texas early Saturday. He was charged with a DUI, after a police officer pulled him over after he ran a red light. Benson also refused to take a blood test or provide blood samples according to Austin police spokeswoman Veneza Aguinaga.
This is not Benson's first run ins with the law.
While in college at the University of Texas, Benson was arrested once for marijuana possession in 2002, and again for criminal trespassing in 2003. (information from Chicagobears.com)
Benson was the fourth overall draft pick in 2005, but has done little to produce big numbers in his time in Chicago.
Hampered by injuries, Bears fans have seen a revolving door of running backs since Thomas Jones went to the Jets two years ago. Benson is not making a good name for himself in the NFL after a poor showing with the Bears.
In his first full year as Bears running back, Benson only managed 674 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 196 attempts.
The Bears added some depth to their backfield this offseason, drafting Tulane running back Matt Forte. The Bears will look to improve on their 30th ranked running game from last season to complement an already unstable offense.
