Today fans of NHL All-Star Evgeni Malkin will be hearing some bad news. The Pittsburgh Penguins center will be out for 2-3 weeks due to a shoulder injury. Early on in the 06-07 season Malkin had a similar incident, where he was due to another shoulder injury. Coach Dan Bylsma stated that it was not the same shoulder as before.

The injury is definitely not rewarding to Malkin, as it will break his 254 consecutive games played. Bylsma and the rest of the team decided it would be best for “Geno” to take a break and work on rehab.

Malkin remarked “It’s fine, it’s early in the season. It’s not a big problem”. Tyler Kennedy will also be on the bench for an unknown reason in the upcoming game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. They are still not sure exactly how long Malkin will be out.

Geno’s awards include the 2007 NHL All-Rookie Team, 2007 Calder Memorial Trophy, and the 2008 First All-Star Team.
