Spainard Fernando Verdasco enjoyed a sensational run to the Semi Finals of the Australian Open earlier this year. Verdasco took the tennis world by storm in the 4th round when he beat the British No. 1 Andy Murray in five sets.
Murray had been many peoples favourite for the title, but Verdasco just proved to be too strong on the day. Murray had gone into that match with a 5-0 head to head record against Verdasco.
Verdasco backed up that victory with a superb four set win over Jo Wifred Tsonga in the Quarter Finals, Tsonga had reached the Quarter Finals in Melbourne last year.
In the Semi Finals Verdasco faced his compatriot Rafael Nadal, and Verdasco fought valiantly and forced Nadal to five sets, but despite being two points away from serving for the match, he eventually went down 6-4 in the 5th set.
Since that tournament Verdasco has displayed some consistent form, and he is currently ranked No. 8 in the world.
If you are a Betting person then you would do well to back Verdasco to qualify for the Masters Cup.
