Luckily the the University of Washington Huskies have a bye week this week. Head Coach Steve Sarkisian stated in his weekly press conference, Jake Locker probably couldn't have played this week if UW had a game.

Early in the game in the first quarter against Oregon, Locker suffered a deep thigh bruise which dramatically took away his running ability. Several times in last weeks game, Locker had the opportunity to take off and run with open field ahead of him. Instead, Locker opted to pass the ball instead of trying to run to risk any future injury.

In a Seattle Times article written by Bob Condotta, Locker was asked about his injury. Locker said, "It just felt like it was a Charley Horse through the course of the game."  He continued, "Once I was warm it was no big deal...I had a little bit of a limp. It was just tight. I felt it, obviously, but I didn't think it altered the way I played the game at all."

However, Sarkisian and the stats indicate otherwise. All three of Locker's designed runs occurred in the first two series. His only runs the rest of the way came on sacks (which are officially designated as runs in college football) with Sarkisian saying that knowing Locker was hurt impacted the way he called the game.

Sarkisain also stated in the article, "What the injury is is a deep thigh bruise and with time and rest and treatment, those things can heal."  "So I'm not as concerned [about missing the UCLA game] but we'll assess it on Sunday night."

But in Husky practices this week, backup QB Ronnie Fouch has taken snaps with the 1st team Offense along with Red Shirt Freshman QB Keith Price.

In comments to the press, Sarkisian Said, "What I'm seeing out of them is the stuff that is our base offenese, they are executing much better, with much better tempo, a lot better completion percentages out of these practices than we had in training camp with these guys

It will be a wait-and-see attitude on who will be playing QB at Washington.

The Huskies have played the nations toughest schedule over the first eight weeks of the season. The Huskies will need all their veteran players healthy for the final six weeks of the season with four games left.

Starting next week in UCLA, it is a "must win game" if Washington has any Bowl expectations.

Like they say "It ain't over until the fat lady sings."
