Larry Johnson will be suspended for one game, on Nov. 9, for using gay slurs on his Twitter account. As ignorant as the slurs were, this is America, and we still have the right to free speech. I do not agree with his remarks, but they have absolutely nothing to do with the team.
Larry Johnson should have to apologize to his fans, the gay community, and pay a fine. While the use of gay slurs was thoughtless, ignorant, and inappropriate, they were not the comments that were "detrimental to the team."
However, Larry Johnson should be suspended. He should be suspended for one game for the remarks he made about his coach: "My father got more creditentials than most of these pro coaches. My father played for the coach from "rememeber the titans". Our coach played golf. My father played for redskins briefley. Our coach. Nuthn."
Todd Haley is the coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. Maybe he has not yet earned the respect of his players, but that does not give Larry Johnson the right to bash Haley. Anyone who writes a comment like that about their boss would be fired, and at least be suspended.
Johnson is acting like a child, so treat him like one. He misbehaved, so put him in timeout. When his timeout is over, see if he learned his lesson. If not, let him go. He is acting like a divisive and selfish player, and the Chiefs do not need someone like that on a football team.
