Watching TUF 10 tonight all I could think was, "These guys make the sport look bad."
Really, really bad.
Every one of the fights so far have been terrible showcases of men with no real talent, other than Roy who barely showed any. These guys don't even look like athletes, let alone fighters. I've seen better cardio off guys down at the bar playing billards. Why did Dana White let so many bad fighters infest his golden child TV show? I can't remember a TUF season where both fighters looked like chumps for seven episodes.
And then it hit me. Kimbo Slice.
And what one thing was missing from the start of TUF 10 that the last few seasons have showcased?
Think about it.
Answer: The first episode elimination round where every fighter had to fight their way on to the show.
Kimbo Slice had to be on TUF 10 for ratings, and an elimination round wouldn't have set well with the powers that be. It's possible that the UFC just couldn't find enough heavyweights to have an elimination round, but it's also possible that they let so many weak, fake fighters on the show because they didn't want Kimbo to get cut the first time out.
Dana White is always talking about the sport and not putting on "freak shows." But all I could think of when Junk was hugging on to Mitrione's leg like a lost puppy and being dragged around the Octagon was, what the FREAK was that?
Throw in all the poor coaching and sportsmanship from Rampage and this season is just a morale blow to the sport. It's not fun to watch, at all. I'll give Rampage some credit though, he knows how to destroy a door.
