What Do You Do When Your Football Team Is Actually Favored To Win?

A few weeks ago, I, as a Detroit Lions fan, experienced something that I haven't for a really long time. My pro football team actually won a game.

To those of you who are not Lions or Rams fans, this sort of thing probably isn't very much out of the ordinary. But for those of us still stubborn (maybe foolish is the term I'm looking for) enough to call ourselves fans of the Motor City Kitties, this is an odd situation.

And now, looking at the sports page this morning, I saw that the Lions are favored to win this week. Even though they are playing the Rams, who are closing in on the Lions only significant stat since the days of Barry Sanders, their recent loss streak, I still assumed that the spread was a typographical error. So, I checked a couple of other sources.

I discovered that Detroit is really favored to win. I asked myself, what do I do now? I don't know what attitude other Lions fans (I can't be the only one left) are adopting, but I'll do the same thing that I do every week. I'll assume that they will lose by four or five touchdowns, and hope for a pleasant surprise.

I'd like to have a better outlook on the situation, but I'm getting soft in my old age, and I'm sick and tired of NFL heartbreak. On the bright side, though, I guarantee my guys will finish the season with 100% more wins than last year.
