The Oswego State men's ice hockey team is ranked ninth in a preseason poll released Monday by USCHO.com .  The Lakers already opened their season this past weekend by splitting a home-and-home series with Elmira College, who ranks 14th in the poll.

Plattsburgh was voted the top Division III team in the nation by a panel of 20, despite receiving little more than half as many first-place votes as Neumann.  The Knights will begin the defense of their 2009 National Championship as the number two team in the land.

Oswego State was one of six schools to receive one first place vote.  Neumann garnered nine, while Plattsburgh appeared at the top on five ballots.  The Lakers and Cardinals were the only teams from the SUNYAC to receive votes.
