When the smoke settles, what will Bleacher Report look like? That seems to be a good question.
I am too busy to visit often, but when I do, I notice the changes. Here is a list of what I have observed.
1. People love to say "goodbye" on the Bleacher Report. They seldom fade away. There are articles posted, usually on BR Chatter which gives positive and negative reasons for leaving. Many of the reasons have to do with the new style and format of the website.
2. There was a time more articles on "causes" or "walks" were posted. Lately, I have missed seeing those types of articles.
3. The advertisements seem to be of a new character on some pages. A few, however, have advertisements or pictures that may make some young people uncomfortable, especially if their parents are staring over their shoulder.
4. The comment section does not seem to allow editing or deletions.
5. Sometimes certain tags do not drop down for use on an article.
6. I have read that some people write the main administrators and the response seems slow.
7. I have heard that sometimes if you post, say, late on a Friday night, your article may not get edited quickly.
8. Sometimes nobody gets around to editing your articles.
9. Some editors are polite and careful. Others write editorials and tell you what to do and what to write about and change your wording drastically.
10. Sometimes articles are on the front page for a hot minute, then the next thing you notice, they are not there anymore, yet the reads were flaring up, high.
11. It seems the criteria for the POTD has changed. A lot of new people are getting the POTD.
Change is good. Checking out a situation is better.
When the goal of the changes are to promote openness, freedom of expression, inclusion, creativity, and variety, that is best.
So, when the smoke settles, perhaps we will be a kinder, gentler community, and have a beautiful environment to continue expressing ourselves without provocation or problems.
After all, this is an open community for people from around the world to see how we do, feel and write about sports.
As we "morph," let's move toward a beautiful place, filled with enjoyment, entertainment and even a little education.
Take it easy.
