Fantasy Football's Week 8 Waiver Wire Pickups

My Week 7 column featured outstanding waiver wire pickups including RB Laurence Maroney (13 carries for 43 yards and a touchdown), WR Mike Wallace (three receptions for 72 yards and one touchdown) and WR Sidney Rice (11 receptions for 136 yards). With Week 8 approaching, here are the next future stars.

 

Quarterbacks:

Alex Smith- 49ers: What a performance for the former No. 1 pick on Sunday; he nearly led San Francisco 49ers to a comeback win. He finished with 206 passing yards, with three touchdowns and one interception.

Due to his performance, he was named the starter for Sunday’s matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts come in ranked with the fifth best passing defense in the NFL. Stash him for Week Nine, when the 49ers host the Tennessee Titans.

The Titans rank last in passing yards allowed per game (311), and in touchdowns allowed through the air (19). Look for Smith to duplicate the same effort against the Titans...
