It takes a certain kind of woman to date a professional athlete. You have to be able to handle the fame and the long periods of time away where he will most likely be tempted by other women on a nightly basis, and of course, you have to be obscenely hot, famous, or both.

Not only did all of these women fit that criteria, but they liked dating an athlete so much that they came back for more.

No. 20: Madonna

It's kind of hard to imagine now, but back in her heyday, Madonna was one of the most desired women out there. So when Jose Canseco claimed to have hooked up with her in the early '90s, guys thought that was pretty cool.

Fast-forward to last year. A-Rod is one of the biggest stars in baseball and gets a divorce with his hot (but crazy) wife after it's rumored that he and Madonna had a fling. After the divorce, A-Rod and the 50-year-old have a short, but public, relationship.

She's dating or was rumored to have been dating Oscar de la Hoya, Brian Urlacher, Mark Philippoussis, Matt Leinart, Jose Theodore, and Cristiano Ronaldo.

That last couple has slept with more combined people than the population of Rhode Island.

No. 17: Carol Alt

This cougar loves her hockey. Married to the Rangers' Ron Greschner for 13 years, she now spends her time with Alexei Yashin, who is 13 years her junior.
