According to Sportsnet.ca
Ilya Kovalchuk is still to have an MRI done be the end of today (Monday), it will determine the extent of the injury Ilya had received in the loss versus San Jose on Saturday.
The team is stating that Kovalchuk was hit in the foot with the puck, so far in all replays it looks more like he tweaked his foot or lower leg during an almost knee to knee contact with Sharks' Patrick Marleau.
So far X-rays proved negative and the Thrashers are praying the injury is merely a deep bruise that might keep him out of the lineup for around two weeks.
Kovalchuk was first in the league with nine goals in eight game, before Sunday's games.
