PORTLAND, OR - APRIL 28: Rudy Fernandez #5 of the Portland Trail Blazers drives against Yao Ming #11 and Shane Battier #31 of the Houston Rockets during Game 5 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals of the NBA Playoffs on April 28, 2009 at the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon. Scoop Jackson is never wrong and only writes very smart things. In order to to believe me don't read this . Or anything else Scoop has written.

Anyways, the important thing is that Scoop Jackson is incredibly down with Rudy (!) Fernandez. In fact, he believes that Rudy (!) will win the Sixth Man of the Year Award . David Thorpe is also in, picking Fernandez to take home Most Improved honors .

With such a stacked roster I'm not sure there will be enough opportunities for Fernandez to get the kinds of stats necessary to win awards. I do appreciate that he seems to be in these discussions somewhat.

If anything these grand predictions by the national media show that the excitement over this team has expanded beyond the the Blazer's market. Take that Bill Simmons .
