Five NBA Teams That Will Improve Their Play This Year
The 2008-2009 NBA Season was a horrible year for some NBA teams. The 2009-2010 season brings them a chance to improve on their play from the season before.
Problems the season before may be do to injury or the team may have been good they will just improve even more with a new acquisition.
For example, the Cavaliers improved greatly last year after the acquisitions of guys like Mo Williams. Also, the Blazers performed much better last season than the year before.
Here are five teams that will improve from last year.
The Pistons went 39-43 last season finishing third in the Southeast Division.
The Pistons will improve this season because young PG Rodney Stuckey will be able to play full time now that the Pistons no longer have Allen Iverson. They will also improve due to the acquisitions of PF Charlie Villanueva and SG Ben Gordon.
Villanueva averaged 16.2 points per game with 6.7 rebounds per game last season while Gordon averaged 20.7 points per game with 3.5 assists per game.
Oklahoma City Thunder
The Thunder went 23-59 last season finishing last in the Northwest Division.
The Thunder will improve this season because Kevin Durant is becoming a star in the NBA. Durant averaged 25.3 points per game last season with 6.5 rebounds per game.
They will also improve due to the fact that young PG Russell Westbrook and PF Jeff Green will have the best seasons of their career.
Last season Westbrook averaged 15.3 points per game with 5.3 assists while Green averaged 16.5 points per game with 6.7 rebounds per game.
New Orleans Hornets
The Hornets went 49-33 last season finishing fourth in the Pacific Division.
The Hornets will improve this season because the acquisition of C Emeka Okafor this offseason along with David West will help the Hornets have one of the best defensive/rebounding teams in the NBA.
Last season Okafor averaged 13.2 points per game with 1.66 blocks per game and 10.1 rebounds per game while David West averaged 21.0 points per game with 8.5 rebounds per game.
The Raptors went 33-49 last season finishing fourth in the Atlantic Division.
The Raptors will improve this season because PG Jose Calderoon will have his breakout year. Last season Calderon averaged 12.8 points per game with 8.9 assists per game.
They will also improve due to the fact they acquired PF Hedo Turkoglu this offseason and that Chris Bosh is in his contract year and if the Raptors have a bad year I would not expect to see Bosh as a Raptor next year.
Last season Turkoglu averaged 16.8 points per game with 4.9 assists per game and 5.3 rebounds per game while Bosh averaged 22.7 points per game with 10 rebounds per game.
The Wizards went 19-63 last season finishing last in the Southeast Division.
The Wizards will improve this season because they will have there star player, Gilbert Arenas back. Arenas only played in two games last season averaging 13 points per game with 10 assists per game.
They will also improve because they acquired a great shooter this offseason in Mike Miller. Last season Miller averaged 9.9 points per game with 6.6 rebounds per game
