After beating Dynamo Kiev during Matchday Two, the 2009 Champions League winners FC Barcelona hosted the 2008 Russian Premier League champions Rubin Kazan into the Camp Nou for Matchday Three.

Going into the match, Kazan had not won a Champions League match in their history, while Barcelona were looking to build onto their lead in Group F.

Early on in the match, Kazan absolutely stunned the Camp Nou crowd in just the second minute of the match, as Aleksandr Ryazantse powered the ball into the top right corner of the net past Barcelona keeper Victor Valdes, giving Rubin Kazan an improbable 1-0 lead over the defending champions.

After the goal, Barcelona immediately went onto the attack and started to attack the Kazan goal with shot after shot, but Kazan keeper Sergei Ryzhikov was equal to the challenge, as he was able to prevent Barcelona from scoring, and at the end of the first half, Rubin Kazan held a 1-0 lead.

After the half was over, Barcelona continued their attack on the Kazan goal, but they were finally able to beat Ryzhikov in the 48th minute, as Zlatan Ibrahimovic was able to power a through ball by Xavi into the bottom left corner of the net, tying the match at one.

With the goal, it appeared that Barcelona were on their way to taking the lead in the match but that wasn't to be, as Kazan continued to make the match hard for Barcelona, and in the 73rd minute, they were able to once again take the lead.

This time, Alejandro Dominguez fed Kardeniz Gokdeniz through the box, which he was able to completely bury, and once again gave Rubin Kazan a stunning 2-1 lead.

Once again, after the goal, Barcelona continued to attack the Kazan goal, but Barcelona got no luck, as Ibrahimovic hit the bar in the 79th minute, and Yaya Toure headed a corner from Xavi off the right post in stoppage time. Barcelona were unable to score, giving Rubin Kazan a stunning 2-1 win at the Camp Nou.

The loss is Barcelona's first lost of the 2009-2010 season, and this is Rubin Kazan's first ever win in the Champions League.

With this win, Kazan have now tied themselves with Barcelona and Dynamo Kiev (who drew two all at the San Siro against Inter Milan) on the top of the Group D table.

In their next Champions League match, Barcelona and Rubin Kazan will now travel to the Central Stadium Kazan during Matchday Four.
