Well, if there is one weak spot on the Eagles defense, it is there inability to cover the opponents tight end. Maybe that issue is solved.

Will Witherspoon was acquired by the Eagles for a fifth round pick in 2010 and Wide Receiver Brandon Gibson.

At 6-1 and about 239 pounds, Witherspoon is known for his tenaciousness and extraordinary speed, for a linebacker. In 2007, he was voted team MVP with the Rams as he racked up 110 tackles with a team high 7 sacks.

Witherspoon can play multiple linebacker positions such as the WILL or even the MIKE. With Eagles starting middle linebacker Omar Gaither's injury, Witherspoon could immediately start right away at the middle.

Witherspoon is signed through 2011.  His current base salary is $2.5 million.  Next year, it doubles to $5 million.  In the final year of the deal, it remains at $5 million.

Brandon Gibson was a fan favorite because of his work ethic and hands here in Philadelphia, and it is sad to see him go.

Currently Witherspoon has 36 tackles starting the first 6 games for the St. Louis Rams.
