These rankings are based strictly on each player’s career at the University of Florida, not their careers in the NFL or any other factors. Though many spectacular players have had the privilege to attend the University of Florida and play football for the school; these are absolutely the best of the best.

# 10 Fred Taylor

Despite playing in Steve Spurrier’s heavily pass-oriented offense, Taylor was able to establish himself as one of the country’s elite running backs, rushing for 1292 yards his senior year.

# 9 Cris Collinsworth

Collinsworth was an All-America wide receiver as a senior. During his career at Florida, he caught 120 passes for 1,977 yards and 14 touchdowns, while also scoring 2 rushing touchdowns and 1 on a kickoff return.

#8 Jevon Kearse

For his career "The Freak" racked up 34.5 tackles for loss, 145 total tackles, 16.5 sacks, 6 forced fumbles, 1 interception, 1 recovered fumble, and 19 pass deflections. Kearse is known as one of the Gators most feared defenders ever.

#7 Steve Spurrier

Spurrier finished his three-year, 31-game career as Florida's starting quarterback having completed 392 of 692 attempts, with 4,848 passing yards, 37 touchdowns and 442 yards rushing.[2] In addition to winning the Heisman, he was selected as a first-team All-American in 1965 and 1966.[3]

#6 Alex Brown

During his career, Brown was a two-time All-American, he was a three-time first-team All SEC. In his career, Brown totaled 161 tackles with 47 total stops behind the line of scrimmage (sixth-best total in school history) and holds the school record of 33 career sacks.

#5 Kevin Carter

His 42.5 career tackles for loss and 21.5 quarterback sacks ranked seventh and fifth, respectively, in UF history when he completed his career in 1994. Carter's 11.5 sacks in 1994 are the third-best seasonal total in school history.

#4 Jack Youngblood

In 1969, he led the team in tackles with 66. In 1970, he made All-America and pulled off one of the greatest plays in Florida history. Georgia was leading 17-10 and had the ball on Florida's 1-yard line. A Georgia back tried for a touchdown. Youngblood stopped him short of the goal line, knocked the ball out of his grasp, and recovered it. Florida went on to win 24-17.

#3 Danny Wuerffel

He finished his Gator career by completing 708 of 1,170 passes for 10,875 yards with 114 touchdown passes, the best in SEC history and second-most in major college history. His career pass efficiency rating of 163.56 was the best in major college history and his percentage of passes which went for a touchdown (9.74) ranked first in collegiate history. In 1995, his efficiency rating of 178.4 set a single-season collegiate record. During his Heisman-winning season of 1996, he completed 207 of 360 passes for 3,625 yards for 39 touchdowns (leading the nation) and his efficiency rating of 170.6 made him the first quarterback to ever post a rating of 170 or better in back-to-back years.

#2 Emmitt Smith

Smith holds many Florida rushing records including, rushing yards in a single game (316), longest rushing play (96 yards), career rushing yards (3,928), and career rushing touchdowns (36), among many others. In all, Smith owned 58 school records at the conclusion of his Florida career.

#1 Tim Tebow

Tebow has 2 National Championships, a Heisman, a QB rating of 180.6, a 65.8% completion percentage, 7167 passing yards, 74 passing touchdown, 2346 rushing yards, 48 rushing touchdowns and the best sports speech of all-time.
