Former England pace bowler Matthew Hoggard has been offered a three year contract by Leicestershire, Hoggard was released by Yorkshire last week having played county cricket for 15 years for his home county.

Hoggard reached number four in the world as a Test Match bowler a couple of years ago and was seen by many as England's most consistent bowler.

Arguably Hoggard's finest moment was in the Barbados Test Match against the West Indies back in 2004 when he took a hat trick.

Hoggard also played a key part for England when they won the Ashes back in 2005 it was the first time that England had won the Ashes in 16 years.

However after a poor performance in the first Test Match against New Zealand last year Hoggard was dropped by England and he has never played another Test Match since.

In September last year England opted not to offer Hoggard another contract.

It is hard to see Hoggard defying the odds and getting back into the England team.
