The University of Washington's began it's last possession on its own 10-yard line with 1:17 to play, and the Sun Devils had just one timeout. After the Huskies had two running plays for nine yards, Jake Locker then threw a deep pass down the sidelines incomplete to James Johnson on third-and-one, stopping the clock with 22 seconds left and forcing the Huskies to punt.

Head coach Steve Sarkisian said he wanted to try to score on the series. The interesting question here, is why did Washington run two straight running plays from it's own 10-yard line with time running out?

If your trying to score, then what happened with Washington's passing attack on those two offensive plays. Turning the ball over on downs deep in your own territory with time running out is irreprehensible.

"Just a poor call," Sarkisian said later. He said that the Huskies thought they had a chance to break a big play, but later acknowledged it wasn't worth the risk.

"That's hard for me to swallow," he added.

"I could have managed the ball game better," Sarkisian said, matter-of-factly. "I pride myself on doing that, and I didn't do a very good job Saturday night.

Sarkisian did say that he bungled the game management late, basically admitting he wished he had done it differently there.

Washington definitely has some fundamental issues that head coach Steve Sarkisian needs to work on, specifically, an inability to run the ball with any consistency—99 yards on 27 carries, 41 coming on two plays.

Jake Locker in an interview with the press after their bitter loss to the Sun Devils, "It's not easy after a loss like this. We thought we were going into overtime, and it didn't work out. I don't know how many games I've seen it end like that."

Locker lamenting on "I don't know how many games I've seen it end like that." Is he comparing Steve Sarkisian with Tyronne Willingham?
