ATHLETIC BILBAO TEAM REPORT

Provided by Written on October 19, 2009

ATHLETIC BILBAO

Coach: Joaquin Caparros (third season)

Last Result: 1-0 loss at Espanyol, January 30

Record: 9-8-3

Streak: Lost 2

Next Match: at home to Xerez, February 07

Europe: UEFA Europa League (Round of 32)

Athletic Bilbao has now lost two matches in a row since beating
Real Madrid at San Mames three weeks ago. The Basques went down
to Deportivo La Coruna and Espanyol in those, but will be
expected to return to winning ways when they host bottom of the
table Xerez on Sunday. Despite the two defeats, Athletic remains
in a strong position, in eighth spot, just four points behind
fourth-placed Deportivo. Fran Yeste is doubtful for the game
against Xerez. Inaki Munoz and Aitor Ocio are close to their
comebacks following spells on the sidelines, but are not quite
ready to return. Carlos Gurpegi and Ustaritz Aldekoaotalora,
both injured against Espanyol, are available, though.
