The world's No. 3 ranked tennis player Novak Djokovic has been in superb form of late having won the ATP China Open in Beijing last week.

Going into the Masters 1000 Event in Shanghai this week, Djokovic had reached the finals in four Masters 1000 appearences. But in the absence of Roger Federer and Andy Murray many expected the Serb to go all the way and win the title.

Djokovic, however, fell short against Nikolay Davydenko in the semifinals and is still searching for his first Masters title of the year.

Djokovic took the tennis world by storm last year when he won the Australian Open. To date that remains the Serb's only Grand Slam triumph, although he did win the Masters Cup which, ironically, was also held in Shanghai last year.

Many have tapped Djokovic for greatness and his game is certainly very complete. Well-roundedness does not necessarily translate into trophies, however. Djokovic will try to capitalize on his game and defy the odds to win more Masters titles and Majors in the very near future.
