Jose Aldo da Silva Oliveira Junior will get the opportunity of a lifetime at WEC 44 when he collides with current WEC featherweight champion, Mike Brown. At only 23 years of age, Aldo could see his name in lights if he can accomplish something Urijah Faber failed to do on two occasions.
Mike Brown has proven to be a tough match for any featherweight fighter thanks to his experience, size and strenght. His impressive wins over Urijah Faber and Leonard Garcia have earned him the title of the best featherweight fighter in the world today. Although alot of people would agree that Brown is more experienced, stronger and bigger then Aldo, WEC 44 could feature the upset of the year.
Both Aldo and Brown made their WEC debut at WEC 34. Brown defeated Jeff Curran by unanimous decision while Jose Aldo TKO'ed Alexandre Franca Nogueira in the second round. Now, 10 WEC events later, they are ready to collide for the WEC featherweight championship.
Jose Aldo has an impressive MMA record (16-1) and although he has showed devasting stand-up skills since coming to the WEC, he is also a BJJ black belt and trains with top fighters like Wagnney Fabiano and Thales Leites.
His recent win over Cub Swanson at WEC 41, which he ended by a flying knee only eight seconds into the fight, opened alot of eyes. Despite having the odds stacked against him, Aldo will try to silence the critics at WEC 44. His good stand-up skills and underated ground game could surprise alot of people. Aldo is also very aggressive and explosive and a KO can happen in a flash.
This fight could end in so many different ways, and it should be a very interesting fight. Don't blink, because you may miss something big.
